8th Batch-Scholarship Students Educational Orientation

Once again, Sahid Institute of Tourism held an Educational Orientation for the students of 8th batch-Scholarship Program, with the theme “Love, Care and Respect.
With the cooperation with the Student Affairs and Executive Board and Leadership Student Entrepreneurship Program (LEDs), they have developed and created an action plan that was implemented in the Educational Orientation located at Sahid Institute of Tourism, Campus II Pondok Cabe.
And
The target of this Educational Orientation:
- Form students who excel in individual as well as group and have a reliable value of the professional work.
- The agility in adapting to the new changes.
- The Ability to convince others to change for the better.
- The ability to focus efforts to achieve the goals, mission, or a target.
- Willingness to undergo a learning process, improve the practice, running the new concepts, new technologies or new methods.
- Ability to take effective process in making decisions.
- The ability to express opinions or feelings with written language that is clear and easy to understand other people.
- Ability to anticipate and meet the needs, desires and expectations of other people or customers.
- The ability to control themselves or manage potential and time to achieve better results.

To achieve this target, the implementation of the student Educational orientation activities planned within 2 days:
June 29, 2013: Materials
June 30, 2013: Orientation and Character Building Industry

Another successful Educational Orientation where it enabled Sahid Institute of Tourism to create the bond within each students.

ASEAN Cultural Festival, Purwakarta 2013

  A spectacular event was organized to celebrate the Anniversary of the Purwakarta Regency on July 20. From year to year, under the leadership of Purwakarta regency H.Dedi Mulyadi, SH often hold cultural festival to welcome Purwakarta.

In order to introduce Purwakarta, participants of the ASEAN Cultural Festival 2013 were invited by Purwakarta Regent, Mr Dedi Mulyadi to participate in the Fun Bike event cycling together around Purwakarta City on Friday (28/6).
Fun Bike activity itself was followed by approximately 135 foreign nationals from nine ASEAN countries, namely the Philippines, Myanmar, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Brunei Darussalam, including Indonesia.
Directed by Purwakarta’s Regent, Mr Dedi Mulyadi himself, the Fun Bike started from Purwakarta Regency Hall courtyard cycled along Sudirman Street to Singadilaga street and back to the Purwakarta Regency Hall.
In addition to cycling around the town of Purwakarta, the participants were invited to visit tourist areas in Purwakarta, including Dam Ir. H. Juanda (Jatilahur) and Situ Wanayasa; besides that they also seemed to enjoy Purwakarta’s traditional culinary at the Dinner with Purwakarta’s Regent, Mr Dedi Mulyadi.

Students from Beasiswa Unggulan (Scholarship) Program of Sahid Institute of Tourism (Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Sahid) under Media Indonesia and Metro TV as the Liaison Officer of the 9 ASEAN Countries, in cooperation of Purwakarta’s local government for the outstanding ASEAN Cultural Festival 2013 which took place in Purwakarta on Saturday, June 29, 2013; at 19:00 p.m. to 22:00 pm, with its theme “Kemilau Cahaya Purwakarta Istimewa “roughly translated in English “the Glimpse of The Special Purwakarta’s Light.”

ASEAN Cultural Festival took the concept of street carnival (carnival along the road / rally) which was attended by 9 (Nine) Cultural Delegation ASEAN countries. But was also enlivened by the appearance of Mr Dedi Mulyadi on a horseback, followed by a convoy of 10 (ten) representation of provinces in Indonesia, 10 (ten) representative districts / cities in West Java, cavalry, and was no less festive parade of 50,000 (fifty thousand) lanterns to break MURI (Indonesian Record Museum) which was composed of employees of regional organizations (OPD), the Neighbourhood (RT) and Pillars of Citizens (RW), a village of Purwakarta, company and state-owned enterprises and the traditional culture of the nine countries of Southeast Asia.

ASEAN Skill Competition – Regional Selection

 The human dimension of competitiveness is increasingly becoming an important factor that spurred the efforts of quality human resources through education, and training is a requirement that must be put forward. The role of all relevant stakeholders is needed, particularly in instilling the values of competence in competing positive way for the younger generation.

One that can be done is through the skills competition of the ASEAN countries. The entire ASEAN countries are committed to continually take part in the competition in the spirit of ASEAN brotherhood. ASEAN Skill Competition, hereinafter abbreviated as ASC is a skills competition among ASEAN member countries organized by the Ministry of Labour to explore the potential of the youth labour force to be able to compete with other areas that will ultimately improve competition in the international world. Prospective competitors who participated in this regional selection required to have a maximum age of 20 years with a high school education background. Indonesia is one of the participants who have participated since the first ASC in 1996.

 This event will be contested in a variety of skills including network cabling work, mechatronics, mechanical engineering CAD drawing, IT software application, welding, wall and floor tiling, plumbing and heating, electronics, web design, electrical installations technology, bricklaying, cabinetmaking, joinery, hairdressing, beauty therapy, fashion technology, automobile technology, cooking, restaurant service, refrigeration, graphic design technology and production automation technology.

This year, Sahid Institute of Tourism trusted by the Department of Manpower and Transmigration DKI-Jakarta Regional Selection had the honour to host a Regional Selection of ASEAN Skill competition. This activity is a 2 years agenda, which aims to find a candidate who will represent Prov. Special Capital Region of Jakarta. Conducted 2 days on Thursday's / Friday 20 to 21 June 2013, held on the campus of Sahid Insititute of Tourism (STP Sahid) Pondok Cabe.
10 Participants in the field of cooking competition, and 10 in restaurant service competition which comprised of several institutions such as STP Sahid sent 8 participants, 6 participants from STP Trisakti, Bina Nusantara University sent 3 participants, 1 participant SMK 33, SMK 57 1 participants, and SMK 27 1
participant.

Restaurant service competition includes:
1. "Clothing a Box & Boxing Buffet Table."
          Participants must close the box with 1 Table Cloth and also close the buffet table with 4 Table Cloth without the use of needles or other tools.

 2. "Napkin Folding."
         Participants must create napkin fold; 5 folds of the choice of participants and another 5 folds matching the picture given.

 3. "Opening Pouring Sparkling Fruit Juice."
         Opening and Pouring drinks into glasses with the following provisions: 4 Tulip Glass for 1 bottle Sparkling Fruit Juice.

 4. “Fruit Cutting "
        - Participants were asked to prepare all the equipment and materials needed to make the piece of fruit on the desk.
       - Participants were asked to create a piece of fruit for dessert dishes that are served in two dessert plate and the results are displayed in Table Buffet.

 5. "Making Refreshing Drink"
      - Participants were asked to prepare all the necessary equipment and materials for 1 (one) kind of fruit drinks, including without limitation material that has been provided by the committee on the desk .
      - Participants were asked to make two (2) glasses of fresh drink (Mocktail) based on recipes that have been provided over the jury instructions and the results are shown in Table Buffet.

 6. “Restaurant Service”
      Participants must serve guests like in the restaurant and prepare the dessert in front of the guests.

 National selection will be carried out on July 2013 and the winner will follow ASC-X in Vietnam in 2014 where the winners will follow the internship for about 1 year in Australia.
